The advent of the digital age has completely transformed communication as we know it. Electronic writing seems to be beginning to dispense with correct grammar and spelling as a consequence – among other reasons – of the dizzying speed and immediacy with which information flows in today’s society.

Such mechanistic simplification of language is accompanied by recognisable symbols and icons that wander and mingle between conversations of mutilated sentences. Feelings of approval, surprise, concern, joy or sadness expressed in a banal and generic way by means of 12 x 12 pixel elements reproduced at the click of a button. Empty and flat characterisations that have nothing to do with a reliable reproduction of our emotional state.
But the danger of this new language lies not in the graphic approach to these emotions but in how and which ones we decide to show to others. CODE FACES is a representation of all those states of mind that lie hidden under millions of characters every day. A dance of coded masks that are born and die in an infinite and digital universe devoid of emotion, deserted of content. CODE FACES, how are you NOT feeling today?
