Falling Whispers
Falling Whispers is an interactive light installation that transforms environmental noise into a living cascade of light particles.
The installation measures ambient noise in real time—voices, conversations, footsteps, and the bustle of urban life—and translates this data into the behaviour of a generative landscape of light.
When the environment is calm, the cascade flows gently and continuously. As the level of noise increases, the particles become more turbulent, disperse, and move towards the viewer, making visible the impact of our presence on the balance of the system.
Inspired by the growing pressure that human activity places on natural ecosystems, the piece draws a parallel between the noise we generate and the transformations we provoke in nature. What begins as a serene flow can, within seconds, become an unstable landscape disrupted by our own actions.
